Privacy policy (website)

This policy covers the ivynote.net website. Notes stored in ivyNote Cloud (web.ivynote.net / web.ivynote.app) are covered by the service's own terms.

What we collect

  • Usage analytics: when enabled, tools such as Google Analytics 4 record anonymous events like page views and download clicks so we can improve the site. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked first.
  • Download and update-check counts: the server keeps daily totals per platform, architecture and version. No IP addresses.
  • Anonymous install ID: the desktop app sends a randomly generated install ID, not linked to your account, with its update checks so we can count active devices. The server keeps only a keyed hash of it. Turn it off in the app under Settings → About → Anonymous usage statistics.
  • What you send us: feedback (and an email address if you add one) and waitlist sign-ups (mobile apps, self-hosting). Emails are only used to reply or announce a launch, never shown or sold.
  • When you send feedback: to help reproduce issues, we also record your IP address and approximate location, plus browser and device details (system and version, browser version, screen and window size, pixel ratio, languages and time zone, CPU cores, memory, network type, graphics card). You can expand the list in the form before sending. Only the team sees this; it never appears on the public board.
  • When you join a waitlist: to understand where interest comes from, we also record your IP address, the approximate location derived from it (country/region/city), browser languages and time zone, operating system, the page and button you used, the referring page and your browser's user agent. Only the team sees this.
  • Abuse prevention: a keyed, irreversible hash of your IP address limits repeated votes and spam.

Cookies and local storage

The site stores your language, theme, chosen data center and analytics consent in your browser. Analytics tools may set their own cookies.
