Media library
Upload images and files, merge duplicates, see references, publish links and clean up.
All images, videos, audio and files live in the media library.
Uploading
- Paste a screenshot or drop a file into the editor; it uploads and inserts a reference.
- Or click Upload in the media library.
- The same file uploaded twice is stored once (by content fingerprint): "Duplicate merged".
References look like ivy://res/<id> and display on every device.
Browsing
Filter by images / videos / audio / files and search by name. Select a file to see:
- Size, upload time and fingerprint
- Which notes use it, with links
- Download the original, copy the reference
Public links
To use an image on a blog, select it and click Create public link. Anyone with the link can open the file; revoke it at any time.
When sharing a note, Copy or export turns attachments into public links automatically, ready to paste elsewhere.
Unused files and the trash
- Files no note uses are marked unused and moved to the trash after a set number of days.
- Files in the trash can be restored or deleted permanently; the trash empties itself after its retention period.
- Uploading a trashed file again restores it.
Storage and encryption
Attachments are encrypted in 1 MiB chunks and stored on the server's disk or in S3-compatible storage. See Security.
